Throwback videos

I've been reminiscing on videos of Mira lately and thought I'd share a few from when she was between 5 and 7 months. I can't get over how adorable she was! I wanna go wake her up right now and squeeze her tight!

I mean, how cute right? <3

One Year Favorites

Mira has officially been one for 10 days now, yet we feel she acts like a two year old already. She's starting to throw tantrums when she either doesn't get her way or gets something taken away, or simply just when she doesn't know what she wants. On the bright side, she's becoming so much fun to play with. We're playing more games with her, singing more songs, reading more books, dancing together, having "conversations" with her, playing "her way" and letting her run into my bathroom and grab all my nail polishes, one by one, and bring them into another room to hand them to daddy. She really thinks she's doing something important with that one and it's too funny.

Since Mira just had a birthday party and got lots of fun presents, we have a new list of "One Year Favorites".

Ikea Play Table. I pinned this on Pinterest a couple months back, but never ordered it. Then one day when I got home from work a huge package was sitting in the entry way from "Ikea". All I could think was that I possibly had shopping amnesia and thought I had ordered it and didn't remember. But I found out that my mom ordered it as a gift for Mira and just got here a couple days after her party. What a fun surprise! Adam got it put together in minutes and Mira loves it.

Violet the LeapFrog Puppy Pal (Target). This was a birthday gift as well. Mira just loves it. You hook it up to your computer and choose which songs you want it to sing and then tell it your kid's name, favorite animal, favorite food, favorite nursery rhymes, lullabies, etc.

Britax Boulevard Convertible Car Seat. Britax products are thee best in terms of everything; safety, installation and use, quality, and sleek looks. This was a gift from grandparents, but Adam and I both have one in our cars. It's easy to put Mira in and take her out, it's seemingly comfy, and I see it over and over again on various car seat reviews with 5 stars and best baby products lists.

Munchkin sippy cups (Target). Once Mira turned one, I told daycare to switch her over to only sippy cups. She has several different brands and styles of sippy cups, but I like these ones the best, mainly because they're the most leak-proof. Since I'm still pumping at work, I usually give her a sippy cup with breastmilk in it with her dinner.

B. Parum Pum Pum Drum. This was part of our gift to Mira. She loves banging on things so I knew this would be perfect. She just loves this thing. I keep joking to Adam that she's going to be the next Justin Bieber.

Books. Books. More books. Mira looooves books. Almost everytime I pick her up from daycare she's playing with a book (either sitting in the corner with it or carrying it around). And at home, she'll run off to her room and I'll find her sitting in her teepee "reading" her books, a.k.a. looking through all the pages while talking to them. It's so much fun to just peek in on her when she's doing this. I'm so glad she likes to "read"! :)

ONE YEAR!

Mira's one year :)
Mira's favorite things are books, the "itsy bitsy spider" song, and playing chase
I love peeking in on her playing in her bedroom, which is usually her "reading" her books, aka flipping through the pages babbling.
One thing I love right now is 90% of her "sentences" end sounding like questions, the last "word" being high pitched. It makes sense, since a lot of what she hears from us are questions for her. "do you want some milk?" "Should we get dressed?" "are you ready to go in the carseat?" etc.
AND she's got the biggest cutest toothiest smile. I. just. love. it.

Stats:
Height: 28.5 inches (25th percentile)
Weight: 18 lbs. 12 oz. (32nd percentile)
Feeding: Breastfeeding has been cut down to only a few times a day, we just introduced whole milk on her birthday, and she is such a good eater with food. Her favorite foods are blueberries and avocado. She also loves strawberries, cheese, turkey sandwiches, pancakes, bread, yogurt, scrambled eggs, green beans, and soup.
Clothes size: 12 months, getting into 18 months. Still fits in some 9 months size onesies too.
Diaper size: 3
Teeth: 4
Development: As far as words go, Mira says "uh-oh", "mama", and "dada".  She is starting to play with her toys more actively; she puts things in containers, takes them out, carries them across the house,  and seems to have a "purpose" for all of it (why she needs to stuff a stuffed bunny into a cup or carry 3 pieces of tupperware all at once back and forth across the house is beyond me). But it's cuuuute.
Her response to "no": she stops what she's doing, looks at me, then slowly smiles and laughs and continues doing whatever she was doing.
She waves "bye-bye" and I think she knows the sign for milk, because she happens to do it when I nurse her, I just didn't think she remembered it because I didn't work with her doing that sign very long. But it IS similar to her wave, so maybe she likes to wave bye-bye when she nurses? Lol.
She can drink from a cup with some assistance, she pretends to talk on cellphones by putting them up to her ear and babbling, she loves to be chased, she loves hide and seek or peekaboo, and she's very loud.

We just had her birthday party here on Saturday and it was a success! She did get a little whiny at times because she was likely tired and overstimulated, but with snacks and other distractions she was fine.
